Joseph Warner Henley,PC,DL,JP (3 March 1793 – 8 December 1884), often known asJ. W. Henley, was a BritishConservative politician, best known for serving in theprotectionist governments ofLord Derby in the 1850s.
Henley sat asMember of Parliament forOxfordshire from 1841 until 1878 and served asPresident of the Board of Trade in Derby'sfirst (1852) andsecond (1858–1859) governments. He was sworn of thePrivy Council in 1852. From 1874 to 1878 (year of his 84th birthday) he was the oldest member of theHouse of Commons.
Henley married Georgiana, daughter ofJohn Fane, in 1816. She died in June 1864. Henley survived her by 20 years and died in December 1884, aged 91.[1]
