Isabella Charli Gaze (born 8 May 2004) is a Dutch-born New Zealandcricketer who plays as awicket-keeper and right-handedbatter forAuckland Hearts and theNew Zealand women's cricket team.[1][2]

Early life

Gaze was born on 8 May 2004 inHaarlem in theNetherlands.[2] She lived in the Netherlands for 18 months before moving toHong Kong, thenSingapore, and finally toAuckland,New Zealand.[3] At the age of 18, Gaze went to university and worked part-time after the domestic cricket season in New Zealand had ended.[4]

Domestic career

Gaze made her debut forAuckland in 2019, againstWellington in the2019–20 Super Smash.[5] She missed much of the 2020–21 season due to a collarbone fracture.[3]

International career

Gaze was part of aNew Zealand camp ahead of the side'sseries against India and the2022 World Cup.[3] Following the retirement of New Zealand wicket-keeperKatey Martin after the World Cup, Gaze was awarded a central contract byNew Zealand Cricket.[3][6]

Gaze earned her first call-up to the full New Zealand side in June 2022, when she was selected in the squad for the2022 Commonwealth Games.[7] She made herTwenty20 International debut on 30 July 2022, againstSouth Africa in New Zealand's first match at the Commonwealth Games.[8] She made herOne Day International debut on 19 September 2022, on New Zealand'stour of the West Indies.[9]

In December 2022, Gaze was selected in theNew Zealand Under-19 squad for the2023 ICC Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup.[10] She scored 47 runs in her three innings at the tournament.[11]

In September 2024 she was named in the New Zealand squad for the2024 ICC Women's T20 World Cup.[12]

Gaze was named in the New Zealand squad for theirODI tour to India in October 2024.[13]
