Ivo Petović (Montenegrin:Иво Петовић; born 26 September 1963) is a Montenegrin professionalbasketball coach and former player.
Petović was born in 1963 to aMontenegrin Croat family fromMuo at theBay of Kotor.
During his playing days, Petović played for domestic teamsBudućnost andCrvena zvezda, and the Greek teamAEK Athens. Afterward, he played inLuxembourg,Sweden,Portugal,Slovakia,Russia,Tunisia,Macedonia,Switzerland, andRomania.[1] He retired as a player in 1999.
Petović was a member of theYugoslavia cadet team at the1981 European Championship for Cadets inGreece.[2] Over seven tournament games, he averaged 6.7 points per game.[3]
Petović was a member of theYugoslavia junior (under-18) team that won the silver medal at the1982 European Championship for Juniors inBulgaria. Over six tournament games, he averaged 5.2 points per game.[4] He also was a member of theJunior (under-19) national team at the1983 World Championship for Juniors inPalma de Mallorca, Spain. Over eight tournament games, he averaged 7 points per game.[5]
In 2000, Petović established KK Stars, ayouth academy based in his hometown, where he coaches youth.[1]
