Isthmus-34 Light is asour crude oil produced inMexico mainly in theCampeche zone, in theGulf of Mexico along with the extraction centers inChiapas,Tabasco, andVeracruz.[1] The name derives from the nearbyIsthmus of Tehuantepec. Before 2017, the oil was a component of theOPEC Reference Basket (despite Mexico's not being a part ofOPEC).[2] It has the following characteristics:
