Isopropamide (R79) is a long-actinganticholinergicdrug. It is used in the treatment ofpeptic ulcers and othergastrointestinal disorders involving hyperacidity (gastrointestinalacidosis) and hypermotility.[citation needed] Chemically, it contains aquaternary ammonium group. It is most often provided as aniodide salt, but is also available as a bromide or chloride salt. It was discovered atJanssen Pharmaceutica in 1954.[citation needed]
