Ismael Tajouri-Shradi (born 28 March 1994) is a professionalfootballer who plays as anattacking midfielder forLibyan Premier League clubAl-Ahli Tripoli. Born in Switzerland, he plays for theLibya national team.
Tajouri-Shradi was born inBern, Switzerland, to Libyan parents. His father was a diplomat.[3] He moved to Austria at the age of 9, and receivedAustrian nationality in July 2015.[4] He has always considered himself Libyan.[3]
Shradi spent his early career atAustria Wien, coming up through the youth ranks in 2013 before going on loan toRheindorf Altach. After two and a half years at Altach, Shradi returned to Austria Wien and became a regular starter.
Shradi signed with Major League Soccer (MLS) clubNew York City FC on 12 January 2018.[5] In his debut season, he scored 11 league goals while also contributing 3 assists.
On 14 December 2021, Tajouri-Shradi was selected byCharlotte FC in the2021 MLS Expansion Draft and was immediately traded toLos Angeles FC in exchange for $400,000 in General Allocation Money.[6] He was traded again on 5 August 2022, joiningNew England Revolution in exchange for $400,000 In General Allocation Money.[7]
On 4 January 2023, Tajouri-Shradi joined Cypriot clubOmonia. He left asCup winner at the end of the season, having scored one goal in 14 appearances for the club.
On July 5, 2023, Tajouri-Shradi returned to the MLS withMinnesota United as a free agent. He signed until the end of the 2023 season.
Shradi debuted for the Libyan under-20s in a friendly with theMorocco under-20s in the summer of 2012.[8]
He debuted for theLibya senior national team in a 0–02019 Africa Cup of Nations qualification tie withSouth Africa on 8 September 2018.[9]
In February 2019, Tajouri-Shradi earned aU.S. green card which qualifies him as a domestic player for MLS roster purposes.[10]
