Ishbak (Hebrew:יִשְׁבָּ֣קYīšbāq, "he will leave; leaving"), also spelledJisbak[1] andJosabak,[2] was, according to theBible, the fifth son ofAbraham andKeturah.[3][4] Ishbak had five brothers,Zimran,Jokshan,Medan,Midian andShuah.[5]
Josephus tells us that "Abraham contrived to settle them in colonies; and they took possession ofTroglodytis and the country ofArabia the Happy, as far as it reaches to theRed Sea."[6] Little else is known about him, but his descendants may be the people identified in a cuneiform inscription to a people known asJasbuqu.[7][neutrality isdisputed]
