Isfahan County (Persian:شهرستان اصفهان) is inIsfahan province, Iran. Its capital is the city ofIsfahan.[3]
After the 2006 National Census, the village ofQahjavarestan was elevated to the status of a city.[4] After the 2011 census, the city ofKhvorasgan became District 15 of the city ofIsfahan,[5] the village ofZiar rose to city status.[6]
Five districts were separated from Isfahan County in 2021:Bon Rud District[a] was renamed theCentral District ofVarzaneh County;[7]Jarqavieh Olya andJarqavieh Sofla[b] Districts formedJarqavieh County;[8]Jolgeh District[c] was renamed theCentral District ofHarand County;[7] andKuhpayeh District[d] was renamedTudeshk District in establishingKuhpayeh County.[9]
At the time of the 2006 census, the county's population was 1,963,315 in 543,688 households.[10] The following census in 2011 counted 2,174,172 people in 657,857 households.[11] The 2016 census measured the population of the county as 2,243,249 in 707,870 households.[2]
