Isba was a city on the border ofancient Pamphylia.[1] It has been identified with the modern village ofÇeşme.[2]

Isba became aChristianbishopric, asuffragan of themetropolitan see ofSide, the capital of theRoman province ofPamphylia Prima, to which Isba belonged. No longer a residential bishopric, Isba is today listed by theCatholic Church as atitular see.[3]

Among the titular bishops of the see wasLionel Scheffer [fr] (14 March 1946 – 3 October 1966), later Vicar Apostolic ofLabrador, after whomSchefferville, Quebec is named.[4]
