Iraqi security forces

US DoD term for law enforcement and military of Iraq

TheIraqi Security Forces (ISF)[1] is a term used by theUnited States Department of Defense (DoD) to describelaw enforcement andmilitary forces of thefederal government of theRepublic of Iraq. During theIraq War, these entities received training and instruction from the multinationalMNF-I and later on during the war against ISIS, they received further training and assistance from theCJTF-OIR.

According to Article 121 of Iraq's constitution, the federal regions[a] are responsible for the establishment and organization of internal security forces of their respective regions. Therefore,Peshmerga is not within the scope of this term.[2]
