TheIonia Daily Sentinel-Standard was created in 1919 through the merger of theIonia Daily Sentinel andThe Ionia Daily Standard.[2]The Ionia Standard had begun as aweekly newspaper in 1873;[3] theSentinel name dates back to theIonia County Sentinel weekly, established in 1866.[4]
