Ion Mihăilescu played 15 games at international level forRomania, including six matches at the1947 and1948 Balkan Cup editions.[7] In 1949, in a friendly againstAlbania which ended with a 4–1 victory, Mihăilescu was the team's captain and coach.[8][9]
