Intelsat 20 is ageostationarycommunications satellite which is operated byIntelsat. It was constructed bySpace Systems/Loral, and is based on theLS-1300satellite bus.[1] It was launched on 2 August 2012, and replaces theIntelsat 7 andIntelsat 10 spacecraft at 68.5° Eastlongitude. It is fully operational since September 2012.[2]

Intelsat 20 is the 47th satellite that Space Systems/Loral will provide to Intelsat, the leading provider ofFixed-Satellite Services (FSS) worldwide.[3]

Intelsat 20 carries 24C-band, 54Ku-band and 1Ka-bandtransponders. The C-band covers theAsia-Pacific region, while the Ku-band transponders is used forDirect to Home broadcasting toAsia,Africa, and theMiddle East.[4] The Ka-band payload provides coverage to theMiddle East andCentral Asia.
