InnoDB is astorage engine for thedatabase management systemMySQL andMariaDB.[1] Since the release of MySQL 5.5.5 in 2010, it replacedMyISAM as MySQL's default table type.[2][3] It provides the standardACID-complianttransaction features, along withforeign key support (declarative referential integrity). It is included as standard in mostbinaries distributed byMySQL AB, the exception being someOEM versions.
InnoDB became a product ofOracle Corporation after its acquisition of the Finland-based companyInnobase in October 2005.[4] The software isdual licensed; it is distributed under theGNU General Public License, but can also be licensed to parties wishing to combine InnoDB inproprietary software.[5]
