Aningression coast ordepressed coast is a generally levelcoastline that is shaped by the penetration of thesea as a result ofcrustal movements or a rise in thesea level.
Such coasts are characterised by asubaerially formedrelief that has previously experienced little deformation bylittoral (tidal) processes, because the sea level, which had fallen by more than 100 metres during thelast glacial period, did not reach its current level until about 6,000 years ago.
Depending on thegeomorphological shaping of the floodedlandform – e.g.glacially orfluvially formed relief – various types of ingression coast emerge, such asrias, skerry andfjard coasts as well asförde andbodden coasts.[1]
