Industrial Cafe and Saloon operated in the ground floor of a condominium innorthwest Portland'sNorthwest District.[2]Willamette Week said the interior had a full bar and a "chic concrete-and-exposed-pipes aesthetic" with metal furnishings.[2][3] The small restaurant was reportedly "made up of 95% reclaimed industrial materials",[4] and raised pasture-fed cattle on the owner's private ranch inSt. Helens.[5][6]
TheAmerican[7] menu included burgers,grits,[6] smokedchicken wings, Hawaiian-style beef ribs, aReuben sandwich,[8]fritters,salmon cakes,pan-fried chicken breast with spicybread crumbs,[2] andcomfort foods likebiscuits and gravy, chickenpot pie, amuffuletta sandwich,[9] andmacaroni and cheese.[10] The grass-fed burger was served with bacon,fried egg,guacamole, ordeep-friedjalapeños.[5] Salad options includedCaesar with chicken, salmon or bay shrimp, as well as a spinach variety with hard-cider vinaigrette.[2]
The "quirky"brunch menu included breakfast salads,[11] egg-and meat entrees, pancakes, and fritters.[10] The Gears and Gravy had twobuttermilk biscuits with porksausage gravy and sage; the restaurant also had a mushroom rosemaryvegetarian option.[12] The dessert menu included Ms. Margaret's chocolate-chipbundt cake topped with whipped cream, a tribute to the cook's neighbor from North Dakota.[2]
Industrial was owned by Mary Starr and Russ Hubbard.[13]
