TheIndependent Social Democratic Action (Portuguese:Ação Social Democrata Independente) was a political party in Portugal founded in 1979, having been officially established in June 1980. It was founded after several members of the Social Democratic Party (among themAntónio Sousa Franco,Joaquim Magalhães Mota,Sérvulo Correia,Guilherme d'Oliveira Martins andAntónio Marques Mendes).[1]
The party contested the1980 legislative election with theSocialist Party, being a part of theRepublican and Socialist Front, that also included theLeft-wing Union for the Socialist Democracy.[2]
The party ended up being dissolved in 1985 and most of its members joined to theSocialist Party.[3]
