From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Inatus orInatos (Ancient Greek:Ἴνατος),[1] orEinatus orEinatos (Ἔινατος),[2] was a city ofancient Crete, situated on a mountain and river of the same name. ThePeutinger Table puts a place calledInata on a river 24M.P. east ofLisia, and 32 M.P. west ofHierapytna. These distances, assuming Lisia isLasaea agree well with the site nearTsoutsouros where modern scholars place Inatus.[3][4] The goddessEileithyia is said to have been worshipped here, and to have obtained one of her epithets, from it.[5]
