1992 EP by Luscious Jackson
In Search of Manny is the debutextended play by Americanalternative rock bandLuscious Jackson.[9] The EP was released in 1992 onGrand Royal.[10] It is essentially the band's demo tape, released afterMike D ofBeastie Boys heard a copy.[3] It was the label's first release.[11]
The majority of the album was recorded byJill Cunniff and Gabrielle Glaser, withVivian Trimble andKate Schellenbach appearing on only two tracks.[12]
MusicHound Rock: The Essential Album Guide wrote that the EP "blends girl group pop, hip-hop rhythms, and smooth urban attitude into a unique stew."[5] TheSpin Alternative Record Guide called the songs "sweet and sleazy, irradiated by Cunniff's honeyed vocals and Glaser's glacial sass."[7]
