The product was created as a web-based application in 2005 for accessing multiple chat platforms,[7] includingFacebook Messenger,Google Talk,Yahoo! In January 2018, the app reached 500 million installs.[11]
imo.im has implemented end-to-end encryption for its chats and calls, ensuring that the conversations remain private between the sender and receiver.[citation needed]
