Animmune mediatedinflammation of thejoints of an animal caused by a dysfunction of theimmune system, which attacks various components of the joint. This leads to variable degrees ofsynovitis, and typically occurs in multiple joints (apolyarthritis). The condition ishereditary (e.g.beagles), and caused by defects at multiplegene loci.[1]
