Imdad Hussaini (Sindhi:ﺍﻣﺪﺍﺩ ﺣﺴﻴﻨﻲ,Urdu:ﺍﻣﺪﺍﺩ ﺣﺴﻴﻨﻰ; 10 March 1940 – 27 August 2022) was a PakistaniSindhi poet and anUrdu language writer.[1][2]
Imdad Hussaini was a poet, short story writer, scholar and lyricist. Many singers includingAbida Parveen, Bilquis Khanum,Arshad Mehmood,Robina Qureshi andZarina Baloch have sung his songs forRadio Pakistan andPakistan Television. He was born in Tikharu, a village on the left bank of theRiver Indus inHyderabad District, Sindh.[3] His father's name was Syed Fazal Mohammed Shah, who was the first cousin ofSyed Miran Mohammad Shah, the second speaker of theSindh Assembly. Imdad Hussaini was an educationist by profession. He did M.A. in Sindhi literature.[4] He worked in various literary Institutions ofSindh, such as theSindhi Adabi Board, the Sindh Textbook Board, theInstitute of Sindhology and served as a member Board of Governors of theSindhi Language Authority. He was Secretary of Sindhi Adabi Board during 1992–1993, editor of Sindhi Adabi Board's literary journal,Mehran (quarterly) from 1977 to 1979 and its managing editor from 2004 to 2006.[5]
Hussaini died on 27 August 2022 inKarachi after a prolonged illness.[6]
