Iman Ali (Urdu:ایمان علی; born 19 December 1980[1]) is a Pakistani actress and model who is best known for her work inUrdu films. Ali made her film debut with a leading role in the 2007 thrillerKhuda Kay Liye, for which she won aLux Style Award for Best Actress. In films, she has also starred as the main female lead in the 2016 biographical dramaMah e Mir, and had a supporting role in the 2011 social dramaBol.[2][3]

Early life

Iman Ali was born on 19 December 1980 inLahore,Punjab inPakistan to actorsAbid Ali andHumaira Ali. Her father was fromQuetta.[1]

Career

Ali first appeared in the serialDil Dekay Jaien Gay followed byArman,Kismat,Woh Tees Din,Pehla Pyar, andKuch Log Roth Kar Bhi. In addition, she starred alongsideShehzad Roy in the first episode of the Geo News TV Serial "Chal Parha" which aired onGeo News in 2013.[4]

In 2003, Ali appeared inIshq Mohabbat Apna Pan, also known asAnarkali video, in a seven-minute music video directed byShoaib Mansoor. She followed this with the leading role inZoheb Hassan's television seriesKismat. Later, she co-hosted theLux Style Awards in 2005 and appeared in some more television productions, which ended in 2006 after her breakthrough into films.[2]

In 2007, Ali made her film debut inShoaib Mansoor'sKhuda Kay Liye oppositeShaan,Fawad Khan, andNaseeruddin Shah for which she received theLux Style Awards for 'Best Actress' in 2008.[2] She appeared in a supporting role inShoaib Mansoor's second film,Bol, oppositeHumaima Malik,Atif Aslam, andMahira Khan.[2]

In 2015, Ali appeared in the lead role in Anjum Shehzad'sMah e Mir oppositeFahad Mustafa andSanam Saeed.[5] She next starred in the filmTich Button as Leena, which began production in 2019 and was released in November 2022.[6][7][8]

Personal life

Ali is the daughter of actorAbid Ali and actressHumaira Ali. On 21 February 2019, she married Babar Bhatti, a Canada-based businessman and the grandson of MajorRaja Aziz Bhatti, in Lahore.[9][10] Ali's younger sisterRahma Ali is a singer and actress.[11]
