il Gardellino is a FlemishBaroque music ensemble founded in 1988 by oboistMarcel Ponseele and flutistJan De Winne [nl]. The name was derived from a piece byVivaldi named after thegoldfinch (gardellino in Italian). The ensemble plays on period instruments inhistorically informed performances. The ensemble focus on works byJohann Sebastian Bach and his contemporariesJohann Friedrich Fasch,Carl Heinrich Graun,Handel,Johann Gottlieb Janitsch,Telemann andVivaldi.
The group performed at the 2013Festival of Flanders[1] and the 2015 Bucharest Early Music Festival.[2]
