'Ibrahīm Bin ʿAbd-El-ʿAzīz 'Abu al-Magd (Egyptian Arabic:إبراهيم بن عبد العزيز أبو المجد), better known asEl Desouki (الدسوقي) (1255 inDesouk,Egypt – 1296), was an EgyptianImam and the founder of theDesouki Order.
El Desouki was born inDesouk on theNile Delta and lived there his whole life, hence his attribution to it.[1] According totraditions and popular sayings, he is a descendant ofAli ibn Abi Talib from his paternal side throughAli al-Hadi.[2][3] El Desouki was influenced by theShadhili Sufi order founded by his uncleAbu al-Hasan Shadhili and was as well close to his contemporary SufiAhmad al-Badawi ofTanta.[4] He becameSheikh ul-Islam of Egypt duringBaibars' rule.
His feast is celebrated twice a year: the first during April, and the second on October the 2nd.[5]
