Iberê Bassani Camargo (18 November 1914, inRestinga Seca – 8 August 1994, inPorto Alegre) was a Brazilian painter, one of the greatestexpressionist[1] artists from his country.[2][3]

Throughout his life,Iberê Camargo was a prominent leader in artistic and intellectual circles.[4]

Shortly after his death, theIberê Camargo Foundation was created by his widow, Maria Coussirat Camargo. Since 2008, the Foundation[5] headquarters andmuseum is located in a building designed by PortuguesearchitectÁlvaro Siza. Thousands ofpaintings by Camargo are on display there.[6][7]
