Anglican priest (1934–2021)

Harold Ian Lyle Russell (17 October 1934 – 9 August 2021) was an English Anglican priest who wasArchdeacon of Coventry from 1989 to 2000 and anHonorary Chaplain to the Queen from 1997 to 2004.[1][2]

Russell was educated atEpsom College. He worked forShell from 1951 to 1953; and was in theRAF Regiment from 1953 to 1956. He studied forordination at theLondon College of Divinity, and was ordained deacon in 1960 and priest in 1961.[3] Aftercuracies inIver (1960–63) andLodge Moor (1963–67) he wasVicar of St John,Chapeltown, South Yorkshire (1967–75) then St Jude,Mapperley (1975–89).[4]

He died in 2021, aged 86.[5]
