Ian Rapoport (born January 9, 1980) is an American sportswriter, pundit, and television analyst who primarily covers theNational Football League (NFL).
Rappaport was born inBoston and grew up inChappaqua, New York.[1] He was a collegerower atColumbia University where he majored in history.[2][1]
Rapoport started his career for theJackson Clarion-Ledger in 2004 covering theMississippi State Bulldogs. He moved on toThe Birmingham News in 2006 to cover theAlabama Crimson Tide.[1] As reported onPardon My Take ("PMT") hosted byDan Katz andPFT Commenter, he applied for a job with theBoston Herald on the basis that he would coverBill Belichick in the same manner he coveredNick Saban.[1] After receiving the job, he served as a Patriots beat reporter for theBoston Herald for three seasons starting in 2009. Rapoport joined theNFL Network in 2012.[3]
Rapoport is Jewish.[4] He and his wife Leah, whom he married in 2009, have two sons named Max and Jude.[5] Rapoport is a fan of theNew York Mets and threw a ceremonial first pitch at a home game in 2021.[6]
