Career

[edit]

Ian Edginton is known for hissteampunk/alternate history work (often with the artistD'Israeli) and is the co-creator ofScarlet Traces, a sequel toH. G. Wells' The War of the Worlds, which they later went on to adapt in turn, andThe Great Game, a sequel toScarlet Traces. For2000 AD he has writtenLeviathan,Stickleback and, with art bySteve Yeowell,The Red Seas as well as one-off serials such asAmerican Gothic (2005).

Scarlet Traces was an idea he had when first readingThe War of the Worlds, its first few instalments appeared on Cool Beans website, before being serialised in theJudge Dredd Megazine. Also,The Red Seas was initially going to be drawn byPhil Winslade and be the final release byEpic, but Winslade was still tied up withGoddess, and when ideas for replacement artists were rejected, Epic was finally wound up. The series re-emerged when Edginton pitched ideas toMatt Smith at the start of his2000 AD career.

With D'Israeli he has created a number of new series includingStickleback, a tale of a strange villain in an alternate Victorian London, andGothic, which he describes as "Mary Shelley's Doc Savage". With Simon Davis he worked on a survival horror series,Stone Island, and he has also produced a comic version of the computer gameHellgate: London withSteve Pugh.

WithDan Abnett he is writing comics based onWarhammer 40,000 (Damnation Crusade andBlood and Thunder)[1] andWarhammer (Forge of War) forBoom! Studios. The most recent is a Warhammer Fantasy series calledCondemned by Fire.[dead link][2]

He is currently working on a dinosaurs and cowboys story calledSixgun Logic. As part ofTop Cow'sPilot Season he has written anAngelus one-shot.[3] he also contributed toDays Missing atArchaia Studios Press.[4]

Following the "World's End" storyline, Edginton took over the writing ofStormwatch: Post Human Division from issue #13[5][6] and also at Wildstorm he createdVictorian Undead a series which mixes Sherlock Holmes with zombies.[7] He has also writtenAladdin: Legacy of the Lost atRadical Comics.[8][9][10]
