TheIX Corps of theGrande Armée was a French military unit that existed during theNapoleonic Wars. The corps was first formed in 1806 from German troops allied with theFirst French Empire, with EmperorNapoleon I appointing his brotherJérôme Bonaparte as commander. During 1807, elements of the corps besieged several Prussian fortresses.
The IX Corps was reformed in 1812 for theFrench invasion of Russia and MarshalClaude Victor-Perrin was assigned to lead it. Victor's troops fought in several actions, most notably at theBattle of Berezina in November. The formation was re-established in 1813 with MarshalPierre Augereau as its commander and fought atLeipzig.
