ISO 3166-2:SL is the entry forSierra Leone inISO 3166-2, part of theISO 3166standard published by theInternational Organization for Standardization (ISO), which definescodes for the names of the principalsubdivisions (e.g.provinces orstates) of allcountries coded inISO 3166-1.
Currently for Sierra Leone, ISO 3166-2 codes are defined forone area and four provinces. TheWestern Area contains the capital of the countryFreetown and has special status equal to the provinces.
Each code consists of two parts, separated by a hyphen. The first part isSL, theISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code of Sierra Leone. The second part is one or two letters.
Subdivision names are listed as in the ISO 3166-2 standard published by the ISO 3166 Maintenance Agency (ISO 3166/MA).
