ISO 3166-2:CY is the entry forCyprus inISO 3166-2, part of theISO 3166standard published by theInternational Organization for Standardization (ISO), which definescodes for the names of the principalsubdivisions (e.g.,provinces orstates) of allcountries coded inISO 3166-1.
Currently for Cyprus, ISO 3166-2 codes are defined forsix districts (el:επαρχίες,eparchies; tr:kaza).
Each code consists of two parts, separated by a hyphen. The first part isCY, theISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code of Cyprus. The second part is two digits (01–06).

The full name of Cyprus in ISO 3166 is the Republic of Cyprus.[1] YetCyprus isde facto divided into the Republic of Cyprus, and theTurkish Republic of Northern Cyprus with limited recognition. Thus not all of the territory of the districts is controlled by the government of the Republic of Cyprus; seeNorthern Cyprus.
TheBritish Overseas Territory ofAkrotiri and Dhekelia (which consists of military bases) does not have an ISO 3166 code.
