ISO 3166-2:AE is the entry for theUnited Arab Emirates inISO 3166-2, part of theISO 3166standard published by theInternational Organization for Standardization (ISO), which definescodes for the names of the principalsubdivisions (e.g.,provinces orstates) of allcountries coded inISO 3166-1.
Currently for the United Arab Emirates, ISO 3166-2 codes are defined forseven emirates.
Each code consists of two parts, separated by a hyphen. The first part isAE, theISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code of the United Arab Emirates. The second part is two letters.
Subdivision names are listed as in the ISO 3166-2 standard published by the ISO 3166 Maintenance Agency (ISO 3166/MA).
