ICW Fear & Loathing IX was aprofessional wrestling event produced byInsane Championship Wrestling and the ninth in the annualFear & Loathing event series. It took place on November 20, 2016, atthe SSE Hydro inGlasgow, Scotland. The event featured wrestlers from its regular roster likeDrew Galloway,Grado,Lionheart, Andy Wild,Mark Coffey[6] as well as international talent inKurt Angle,Team 3D andRicochet.[7][8][9] The event aired onPay Per View throughFITE TV.[10][5][11]

The event also featured appearances fromWWE superstar (and formerICW Zero-G Champion[12][13])Finn Balor,[14][15][16] who had replaced the previously announcedMick Foley.[17][18][19]

Attracting over 6,000 fans,ICW Fear & Loathing IX was the most attended event in ICW history[20][21][22] and was described as themost attended independent UK and European wrestling event in 35 years.[23][24][25][26][27]

Storylines

Core storylines leading into the event were feuds and challenges for ICW's titles, with theICW World Heavyweight Championship,ICW Women's Championship,ICW Tag Team Championship andICW Zero-G Championship all contested.[4][28] For the Zero-G Championship match, qualifiers were held, with Andy Wild, for example, defeatingKenny Williams to gain entry.[29]

One primary feud of the event was The Black Label vs. Team Dallas feud for ownership of ICW.[30][31]

Reception

The event was given theShow of the Year award by the Scottish Wrestling Network[32] while Lewis Girvan vs.Ricochet was also given the SWN award forMatch of the Year andKurt Angle received theImport of the Year SWN award.[33]

Wolfgang vs.Trent Seven was featured inWWE'sThe Greatest Independent Steel Cage Matches on theWWE Network.[34][35]

The appearances fromFinn Balor and Kurt Angle were ranked #6 and #7 respectively inSportskeeda's8 greatest moments in ICW Fear and Loathing history in 2019.[36]
