Hyssus, also spelledHyssos (Ancient Greek:Ὕσσος) and known asHyssi portus, orSusarmia (Σουσάρμια),[1] orSusurmaina (Σουσούρμαινα),[2] orPsoron Limen (Ψωρῶν λιμήν),[3] was a port-town ofancient Pontus on theBlack Sea coast, at the mouth of theHyssus River, 180stadia east ofTrapezus.[4][5] TheTabula Peutingeriana calls itHyssilime. It seems to have been a place of some importance; for it was fortified, and had the "cohors Apuleia civium Romanorum" for its garrison.[6]
Its site is located nearAraklıçarşısı inAsiatic Turkey.[7][3]
