Thehypothalamic sulcus (sulcus of Monro) is a groove in the lateral wall of thethird ventricle, marking the boundary between thethalamus andhypothalamus. The upper and lower portions of the lateral wall of the third ventricle correspond to thealar lamina andbasal lamina, respectively, of the lateral wall of thefore-brainvesicle and are separated from each other by afurrow, the hypothalamic sulcus, which extends from theinterventricular foramen to thecerebral aqueduct.
