Hymenochirus feae, also known asGaboon dwarf clawed frog, is a species offrog in the familyPipidae. It isendemic toGabon[1][2] and is only known with certainty from itstype locality on the coast of central Gabon.[1] Thespecific namefeae honorsLeonardo Fea, an Italian explorer, zoologist, and naturalist.[3]
Hymenochirus feae presumably is ecologically similar toHymenochirus boettgeri, an aquatic frog that occurs in still, shaded water in lowland rainforest, and in pools by slow-flowing rivers. Threats to this little-known species are unknown.[1]
