In theBook of Genesis,Hul (Hebrew:חוּלḤūl) is the son ofAram, son of Shem, who is mentioned twice in theTanakh, both times in genealogical tables.[1] According to the 1st century Jewish historianFlavius Josephus, he foundedArmenia.[2] Because his father is Aram, the eponymous ancestor of theArameans (sometimes also called Syrians), theHolman Bible Dictionary infers that he must have been included in theTable of Nations as "the original ancestor of an Aramean or Syrian tribe."[3]
Australian Chinese revolutionaryTse Tsan-Tai identifies his descendants with theAustroasiatic peoples andAustronesians.[4]
