Hugo Alejandro Héctor Vilches Manuguian (born February 27, 1969) is a Chileanfootball manager and former player who played as aforward.
A product ofUniversidad de Chile, Vilches spent three seasons with them between 1988 and 1990,[1][2] winning the1989 Segunda División, the only time that the club has been in the second level.[3] He also played forRangers de Talca in 1991.[4][5]
Viclhes began his career in Spain. Back in Chile, he worked for Club Oriente de Fútbol fromChicureo, Santiago in 2004–05.[6]
After, he worked for the Universidad de Chile youth ranks, taking part of the training of players such asIgor Lichnovsky,Ángelo Henríquez,Sebastián Martínez, among others.[7] He also was the coach of the Chile youth teams at under-15 and under-18 levels.[4]
In 2012, he served as assistant coach ofArturo Salah inSantiago Wanderers.[7] The next season, he assumed as head coach ofBarnechea in thePrimera B.[4]
The next years, he worked as head coach ofHuachipato,[8]Audax Italiano,[9]Deportes Temuco[10] andCuricó Unido.[11]
Hugo is the father of the footballer Diego Vilches Navarro.[12][13]
