Horizon West is acensus-designated place (CDP) andunincorporated area inOrange County,Florida,United States. It is part of theOrlando–Kissimmee–Sanford, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 58,101 at the 2020 census.
Horizon West includes five designated mixed-use villages, namely the Village of Bridgewater, Lakeside Village, Hickory Nut, Ovation Village and Seidel Village., surrounded bygreenbelts as well as atown center known as Hamlin.[3] The concept was adopted in 1995 by Orange County.[4] As of 2017, Horizon West can be considered one of the fast growingmaster-plannedcommunities nationwide.[5]
Horizon West is located in southwestern Orange County, directly north and west ofWalt Disney World Resort.
Horizon West is bordered on the north by the city ofWinter Garden, on the east by the town ofWindermere, and on the south by the city ofBay Lake (the municipality which contains Walt Disney World Resort) and the census-designated placeFour Corners.
It was a newly defined area as of the 2010 census.State Road 429, the Daniel Webster Western Beltway, runs through the CDP, connectingOcoee to the north withFour Corners andInterstate 4 to the south.[citation needed]
According to theUnited States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 38.1 square miles (98.6 km2), of which 32.9 square miles (85.3 km2) is land and 5.1 square miles (13.3 km2), or 13.50%, is water.[6]
