Homage to King is a 1996 sculpture byBarcelona artist Xavier Medina Campeny, commissioned as a gift from the Spanish host city of the1992 Summer Olympics to the host of the1996 Summer Olympics.[1] It is located at the southwest corner ofFreedom Parkway andBoulevard inAtlanta, Georgia, in theOld Fourth Ward neighborhood. The work portraysMartin Luther King Jr. with outstretched arm, representing a welcome to those visiting theMartin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park.[2] The location is also one of an oft-used view of theDowntown Atlanta skyline.[3]
