Holbæk (Danish pronunciation:[ˈhʌlˀpek]) is a town inDenmark and theseat ofHolbæk municipality with a population of 30,903 (1 January 2025).[1] It is located in the northwestern part ofRegion Sjælland, Denmark.
Holbæk is located onZealand, on the banks ofHolbæk Fjord, an inlet of the largerIsefjord. Holbæk is a commercial and industrial center for the surrounding area. By rail, Holbæk is served byDanske Statsbaner's line fromRoskilde toKalundborg, which runs through the city.Vestsjællands Lokalbaner connects Holbæk by rail toNykøbing Sjælland. The city is a major hub for theMovia bus routes. Holbæk has an active commercial seaport that serves as the harbor for the ferry toOrø (island). Near the harbor there is a substantialmarina.
