Hnyla Lypa (Ukrainian:Гнила Липа,Polish:Gniła Lipa) is a river inUkraine, a tributary of theDniester river.[1]
The name literally means "rottenlinden tree" both in Polish and Ukrainian. It runs parallel to theZolota Lypa river.
The river is namesake to theBattle of Gnila Lipa on 29–30 August 1914, where theImperial Russian Army defeated theAustro-Hungarian Army.
