Hideki Takahashi (高橋 英樹,Takahashi Hideki, born February 10, 1944) is aJapanese actor. Born inKisarazu, Chiba nearTokyo, he attendedIchikawa Gakuen and laterNihon University.[1][2]
Takahashi made his debut withNikkatsu and acted in youth-oriented films. Takahashi made film debut withKōgenji[3] directed byBuichi Saitō in 1961. In 1963, he starred in the yakuza filmThe Symbol of a Man directed by Akinori Matsuo and won popularity.[4] Under exclusive contract with Nikkatsu, his notable films areFighting Elegy andTattooed Life.
In 1971, Takahashi left Nikkatsu and became a freelance actor.[5] In 1974, he starred inKenji Misumi's last filmThe Last Samurai.[5] On television, he became a star in suchjidaigeki television dramas asKunitori Monogatari andMomotarō-zamurai.[1] Modern roles are also in his repertoire. Among these is Detective Totsukawa in theNishimura Kyōtarō Travel Mystery series. Takahashi is also active as apersonality in quiz shows, exemplified byQuiz Nihonjin no Shitsumon (NHK, 1993–2003). He was a judge forIron Chef.
His daughter is Maasa Takahashi, a professional presenter ofFuji Television.
