Hey Love is a bar and restaurant inPortland, Oregon.[1][2][3][4] Established in 2018, it is the lobby bar inJupiter Hotel's Next building, in theBuckman neighborhood ofSoutheast Portland. Hey Love has hosted pop-ups and other themed events, including the holiday-themed Sleigh Love.

Hey Love has garnered a positive reception and was named the best hotel bar in the nation atTales of the Cocktail's Spirited Awards in 2023.

The bar and restaurant Hey Love operates onBurnside Street, as part ofJupiter Hotel's Next building inSoutheast Portland'sBuckman neighborhood. Inside is an "indoor jungle"[5] with ferns and other plants,[6] as well as vintage lanterns.[7]Willamette Week described the decor as "a flurry of highly photogenic touches from the South Pacific circa 1976, with intricate floral wallpaper, mismatched photos and a jungle of leafy plants that directly encourage the consumption of sugary, high-proof cocktails".[8]

Menu

Hey Love servesbrunch and lunch.[9] The brunch menu includesbirriachilaquiles,[10] "breakfast tots",[11] buttermilk donuts and gravy,cinnamon rolls with CBD caramel,shrimp and grits,[12] a mango basil seedparfait with coconut whip, grits withbarbecue sauce and watercress pineapple salad, and squash ganoush withchickpeas andveganfeta.[13] Hey Love has also servedceviche, crabsliders, andnachos with chile verde andpickledjalapeños.[14] The restaurant hasgluten-free and vegan options.[15]

The drink menu has alcoholic slushies[16] and othertiki-themedcocktails.[17] Options include the Tropical Contact High (a variation of apiña colada), the Master of Karate & Friendship (frosé withrum, lime, and strawberries), and the Oaxacan Sunrise (mezcal-passionfruitmargarita).[18][19]

The team behind Hey Love includesbartenders Emily Mistell and Sophie Thomson, as well as the co-owners ofDig a Pony, Aaron Hall and Nicholas Musso.[20][21] Hey Love opened in late 2018,[22][23] and began serving brunch and lunch in December.[12] Roscoe Roberson has been the chef.[24][25] In 2022, Hey Love hosted the pop-up Black Lagoon.[26] The bar has also hostedDolly Parton-themed brunches to celebrate her birthday.[27][28]

Sleigh Love

Hey Love has hosted a seasonal pop-up called Sleigh Love. The interior is decorated withChristmas lights, ornaments,[29] andSanta Claus memorabilia, and the menu included ceviche, layered taco bowls,Cinnamon Toast Crunch Spanish coffee,eggnog slushies, andhot buttered rum.[30] The Toboggan Time is a variation of a frozenIrish coffee with a Rumple Minze float,whipped cream, and sprinkles ofcandy cane. On December 21, 2023, Sleigh Love hosted Festivus for the Rest of Us, described byEater Portland as a "celebration for those of theSeinfeldian faith, with a special food menu referencing famous moments from the show" such asmatzo ball soup and friedkosher wieners.[29]

Reception

In 2018, Hey Love was nominated in the Bar of the Year[31] and Most Beautiful Restaurant of the Year categories ofEater Portland's annual Eater Awards.[6] Hey Love was also included in the website's 2025 list of Portland's best brunch restaurants.[32] Katrina Yentch included the business inEater Portland's 2025 overview of the best restaurants in Buckman.[33]

Hey Love won in the Best Cocktail Lounge category and was a runner-up in the Best Date Bar category ofWillamette Week's annual readers' poll in 2020.[34] It placed second and won in the same poll's Best Cocktail Bar category in 2022 and 2025, respectively.[35][36] Hey Love was named the nation's best hotel bar atTales of the Cocktail's Spirited Awards in 2023.[37][38]
