Hexworthy/ˈhæksəri/[1] is a hamlet onDartmoor, inDevon, England. It lies on theWest Dart River a mile upstream fromDartmeet. Historically in the parish ofLydford,[2] since 1987 it has been in the civil parish ofDartmoor Forest.
Hexworthy has an inn, the Forest Inn, opened in the 1850s.[3]
Very close to the village, on the opposite bank of the West Dart, is the hamlet ofHuccaby, which has a parish church with an unusual dedication toSt Raphael.[4]
There was a long history oftin mining near Hexworthy. Tin works in the valley of theO Brook were first recorded in 1240, and the Henroost or Hexworthy Mine did not close until 1919.[5]
