Hevel Shalom (Hebrew:חבל שלום, lit.Shalom region) is an area in the westernNegev desert close toIsrael's border with theGaza Strip andEgypt'sSinai. This area was elected to be substitutive area for evacuees fromYamit.[1]
Villages in Hevel Shalom are mostly organised asmoshavim, though they include somekibbutzim as well as onecommunity settlement. All settlements are administered by theEshkol Regional Council.
Holit, Sufa, and Talmei Yosef were settled by evacuees from Yamit.
