Heron Road (Ottawa Road #16) is a major road inOttawa,Ontario, Canada. It runs fromWalkley Road at an angle to theRideau River, where it turns intoBaseline Road. Heron is home to theSir Leonard Tilley Building,[1] theCanada Post headquarters,[2] and1500 Bronson Avenue (at its junction withRiverside Drive). It is also home toSt. Patrick's Intermediate High School andHerongate Mall.
Heron Road starts on theHeron Road Bridge which crosses theRideau River,Rideau Canal, and part ofVincent Massey Park. From there, most of Heron Road is a four- to six-lane divided principal arterial, and often becomes a speed trap; the speed limit is 60 km/h (37 mph) west ofBank Street and 50 km/h (31 mph) east of Bank Street despite the overall lack of pedestrians and relatively free flow (especially west ofBronson Avenue).
