Henry Lawrence (born September 26, 1951) is an American former professionalfootball player who was anoffensive tackle for 13 seasons with theOakland /Los Angeles Raiders of theNational Football League (NFL). He playedcollege football for theFlorida A&M Rattlers. Twice selected to thePro Bowl, he won threeSuper Bowls with the Raiders.[1]
Lawrence played inSuper Bowl XI and was astarter inSuper Bowl XV andSuper Bowl XVIII for the Raiders earning three Super Bowl Championship Rings. Lawrence is a member ofAlpha Phi Alpha fraternity. At the 2010 Alpha Phi Alpha Convention, Henry was the recipient of theJesse Owens Achievement Award for his athletic excellence.
Lawrence features in the documentary filmThrough the Tunnel aboutLincoln Memorial High School inPalmetto, Florida. He and his coach, Eddie Shannon, made the transition toManatee High School in the wake of desegregation.
Lawrence contributed lead vocals to two songs (Lo Down andStagger Lee) on the 2025 CD (recorded in 2003) posthumous release of music by Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame pianistJohnnie Johnson. The collection includes other guest artists.[2][3][4]
Lawrence has five children: Ishmael Lawrence, Isaac Lawrence, Juliet Lawrence, Itanza Lawrence and Portia Whitaker.
