
Henry C. Jewell (1827–1908) was an official in theUnited States Department of the Treasury who wasChief of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing from 1876 to 1877.
Henry C. Jewell was born inGeorgetown (Washington, D.C.) in 1827 and raised in Georgetown.[1] He attended seminaries inWashington, D.C., and went to school inNew York City.[1]
After college, Jewell joined theUnited States Navy as an engineer.[1] After leaving the navy, he was the chief accountant of a private banking firm.[1]
Jewell later joined theBureau of Engraving and Printing.[1] He wasChief of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing from 1876 to 1877.[1]
Jewell died in Georgetown in 1908 at age 80.[1]
